Whether you’re teaching about Ohio history and geology — or just looking to have a fun outing — Olentangy Caverns is a great place for Ohio field trips.

School Group Guide
Chaperone Policy
1 adult: 10 kids
We require at least 1 adult for every 10 kids.
Consider additional chaperones based on the age, size, and temperament of your group.
One adult for every five students (1:5) is recommended if you’re entering the cave with younger ages.
Students must be actively monitored by a chaperone at all times.
Small groups for Cave Tours
We recommend maximum 20 kids in the cave at the same time, split into groups of 10 or less. Small groups help avoid traffic jams and reduce noise disruption to other guests.
School groups tend to spend 20-25 minutes in the cave.
Cave tours are self-guided.
For curriculum planning, we’re happy to provide a teacher’s guide of the cave tour in advance.
Booking notes
To ensure an enjoyable experience for all guests, we limit the number of large school groups per day.
To encourage chaperone attendance, we offer 1 free adult cave tour admission for every 20 paid student cave tours. We do not offer group discounts.
Tues / Weds are recommended due to a lower volume of daily guests.
